What to do with appliances

Sellers often underestimate how much of a detractor their appliances are to buyers and forget that buyers are looking at many different properties, not just theirs.
To start with – Clean Everything!
It must look like it’s never been used. There’s a section of the market that believes that two years worth of accumulated BBQ fat, rat droppings, and whatever else falls on the hotplate outside is not only hygenic, but actually ADDS TO THE FLAVOUR.
Then there are normal people.
And it’s these people who will snoop (and yes they do) in your oven. They’ll open the door. They’re not doing it to be “judgey”, but if your oven is dirty then the feeling they have about your home will change. And it’s this feeling that they use to decide how much to offer.
You can save buying new
Obviously you want the best deal. But you also want to pass your home on to the new owners with trustworthy, reliable appliances. You can do both
- You don’t have to get the best, top of the line brands. Unless they’re “uber wow” appliances really don’t add that much value.
- Size does matter – small ovens are definitely a turn-off. They’re not a deal-breaker. But imagine Mum feeding the extended family in your kitchen. Is it possible with the appliances you’re buying?
- There are great deals to be had online, at auction sites and at scratch and dent specialists.
